Thanks to a new submission from my co-worker Elizabeth, Ref-butt may be revived.
It's a rare ref-butt sighting from a recent adapted floor hockey game in Rochester.

Football Playoffs Ref-Butt

Shot some state playoff football on Friday at the Metrodome. Usually don't run into a whole lot of ref-butt while shooting football, but I had a couple butt shots this time around.

Sign of Spring!

Indeed, it must be spring, because I had my first experience with Ump-butt!
Seems like an odd place for this fellow to stand, but sure enough, he does make a better door than a window.
It sure does feel nice to be outside shooting in good light and getting some fresh air!

First Submission!

Thanks to my co-worker Ken for submitting this lovely ref - butt photo from one of last night's playoff game. He refers to the referee in the photo as "RoboRef" due to his rather stiff demeanor running up and down the court.

Welcome to Ref - Butt

If you're a photographer who sees red every time black & white stripes walk into your frame, you'll be able to relate to the Ref - Butt blog. Sure, they're only doing their jobs, but it seems there are some referees out there who make it their mission to get in your lens. Or maybe it's just me - maybe I'm a referee magnet of some sort. But I'm sure most sports shooters out there can relate to the occasional image ruined by an official.

I'd love to have people submit their favorite ref - butt images to be posted on this blog. If anyone is interested, please send images to refbutt@gmail.com and feel free to include some information about the situation in the photo. I find most of my ref - butt moments happen while shooting basketball, though hockey also has its moments.
